Vincent painted the almond blooms for his new born nephew named after him. His exuberance and energy to paint was curtailed shortly after when he again became ill and missed the rest of the blossom season, much to his sorrow.

the room is filled! it's as if Spring arrived inside removed the grey from shadows told the sun to shine softly yet in abundance I cannot tire ~ I'm entranced rested by the expulsion of energy the World's goodness * * dances on * dust * motes * * to coat every inch of this space * divinity is held still I have time water sustains the preserved moments I could map with the line of my eye the tipping point but given this time I have, I won't I can ignore the first petal that falls can disregard the order of things for there is new life buds yet to bloom

I cannot tire I'm entranced rested by the expulsion of energy, could well mean Dilly’s on fire today, the painting is a masterpiece, best refracted glass of water I’ve ever seen, detail is off the scale in both painting and poem, your Ekphrasis work is indefatigable, a growing force taking on a life of its own on the soup, outstanding piece, cheers David

Ha not sure why I'm gravitating round refraction at the minute :) bizarrely my correlation was trance zone on the treadmill that lead to that line. Your words inspire me to keep at it. With Brian's contests back it keeps my pace up too. Thank you for your encouragement, it means a lot.

And its a beautiful and interesting one too he has done! I really love the ending here, such a powerful one, “the first petal that falls can disregard the order of things for there is new life buds yet to bloom” awwn thats a sweet and soulful one! Can imagine him thinking that! Youv nailed it! Congratulations

The family kept the painting for a long long time and there's a picture of Vincent (nephew) at the opening of the Van Gogh Museum as an old man. It's a beautiful story and he was apparently thrilled to have a namesake :)
