Bleeding Between the Lines

Bleeding between the lines ~ His words, once a celebration of love, poetic affection, written from the deepest part of his heart for her, are now nothing more than creased and torn pages of empty verses shoved in the back pocket of his worn out jeans Ink bleeding between the lines of a man who believed he mattered, only to find that he is as insignificant as his writings, a forgotten poet, a dried up pen in hand, scratching sad poetry on a lonely sidewalk between the cracks of his life, etchings of who he has become

I'm always amazed, and a little saddened by the fact that I've written what I think are my best poems when in the throes of sorrow. Sometimes being a poet is a curse but it's also a blessing to be able to put into words what's trying to hide in the caverns of our heart and mind. I feel that you're in a bit of pain today, Chris. Sorry for what brings you down, but it too, shall come to pass.

A sad verse Chris, it does hurt. When your efforts are not recognised. Us poets are sensitive souls for sure. Tom.

Yep, and that is why often I think it is a curse being a poet. Thanks so much Tom for your kindness.

All the great poets are filled with passion and it hurts them when their efforts to please through verse are not appreciated. I would fall for a man who wrote poetry for me and never let him feel forgotten. You have keen insight into human nature, Chris, and the sadness in this poem touches my heart. Well penned, my friend! Hugs, Carolyn

Thank you so very much Carolyn. You are right, it does hurt and I'm not sure that the hurt ever goes completely away. Sometimes I think it is a curse to be a poet sometimes because things like this just linger in our thoughts that are always searching for other ideas. Some days are great but then given enough time to think, it returns once more. Oh well...that's the way it goes I guess. I appreciate you my friend.
