Bird Shadows
Across the warm tumbled shore seabirds glide
To splay moving shadows of dark on sand
And fill my eyes under a sky so wide
As I lay beneath its long endless band
And feel life's spirit's wondrous restful pause
To fill the soul with peace of mind when found
From all the moments of perpetual cause
To hear whispered sighs from my breathing sound
As I lay in still rhythms with the waves
Unearth reasons from life which I relive
To release tensions my mind always saves
And lighten burdens from the days I live
To reach a depth when dark and light converge
And touch bird shadows with my eyes they merge
