Judas Iscariot - what a crime - Christ knew he was about to betray him and He knew where - all the pain and the suffering Jesus had to endure as he was born for humankind to save us from sin - I have written a poem Anil if you would like to read it - it is named 'The Garden of Love and Guilt' Blessings my friend Jennifer.

Peter was NOT saddled with giuilt, but privileged the MERCY of God, or GRACE from Jesus. Think highly of Jesus, not highly of our past sins. amen (See Romans 8: 1-2)

I think I see why I got sidetracked with PETER, Read John21, when Peter is the FIRST to rush to Jesus. They were back to old jobs, like fishing, when they thought he was gone 4good. John saw someone cooking breakfast on the shore. Peter did not care he was half-naked, he beat the boat to Jesus, his LORD. That's surrender. That's also when Peter was forgiven, RESTORED.

Think of PURGATORY the Catholics teach .... Sheol and Hades are not hell, Recall Jesus went to Hades to reach .... those who accepted will be raised (Second birth of Revelation). There is a reason for everything in the Bible. Why Jesus had to be "dead' 3 days instead of one, etc

Based on that logic, would not all men who were born and died before Jesus’s resurrection doomed?

Richard, that's easy: Absolutely not! Peter denied Jesus thrice, with curses, "I do not know [jesus] that man." He had to wait for the Resurrection to be SAVED, no one was saved before that, just in a "holding pattern." Jews talk about SHEOL, and Greeks use "HADES." These are not HELL equivalents, but a waiting station for Jesus (as do all those born before Jesus about 2000 years ago). And then, Judas did not wait for the Resurrection & committed suicide. WHY? a long sermon there. He's the modern man: taking matters in his own hands. thanX for your thoughtful questions, shalom
