Free Inner Wisdom Written in the Sand Stock Photo

I was living a life conceived by another. No questions to answer, nothing to discover. The future chosen for me left nothing to fear. The turns to be taken were all marked clear. As for my mind, it’s one that still wanders. Like the flashing light in the sky when it thunders. I question reality, what I’ve been taught. I can’t determine if I’m free or bought. This life I’ve been given is part of a plan, That allows me to think and do as I can. Listening to my spirit could set me free, And allow me to live as authentic me. I’ll clear my mind and open my heart, It will be a good way for me to start. I’ll sit here quietly and very still, I’ll think of the role my life will fulfill. I don’t see the role that I’m meant to play, I just need to be open as I go my way. For my life is a light, a physical display, Of the truth I’ll be given from day to day. No one else knows the path I should take, Taking another’s path would be a mistake. Each one should follow the voice deep within, It knows our beginning and also our end.

You lay it out well, Bill; just living along but then the second stanza opens our eyes. Love the line, 'if I'm free or bought.' Thanks for sharing this gem!

That's a good one to think about, David. It's not as easy to answer as it first seems, to many. Thanks for the mindful comments, my friend. Have a great day! Bill

Dear Bill, it takes mindful wisdom to surrender to one's inner wisdom. For one's mind to wander and wonder is part of the physical being, to listen to your inner voice is the spirit within. Your last stanza is a grand finale to a deep and insightful piece. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

Your poem is filled with insight and powerful wisdom, dear hubby! I appreciate the calm, even tone of each line as it flows into another one. What is that phrase? "To Thine Own Self Be True." I've witnessed your do that and empower yourself. Your wisdom is hard earned and I admire you , hugs, your wife, Sara

I try hard to follow that advice, Ton. Usually I do fine, but sometimes my desire to help or please others takes control and others like to lead. It great to have you back active in the community, my friend. You've been missed! Have a great week, Bill
