Sung to the melody of when I’m 64 by The Beatles Gotta keep working an extra few years (Not like years ago) Governments are screwing us for every dime I can’t afford a bottle of wine Hip's been replaced Yes I’m getting old I’m too old to twerk But I’m so needy and my pension won’t feed me But I’m ninety four! Written after being inspired by ‘Stupid People’ poem by SillyBilly theKidster https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/stupid_people_900910 05~16~17 Now That I'm 64 by SillyBilly the Kidster I gotta keep working an extra few years, not like years before. Government is screwing me for every dime, I can’t afford a bottle of wine. Hip's been replaced, yes I’m getting old. I Can't Work Any More, but I'm still needy, social security won't feed me, now that I'm 64. 05~17~17

I rarely drink but have to admit I do like the odd glass of cider! We have longevity in our family as my mother's great great aunt lived to 111 and 121 days and was in the Guinness book of records - hope I have a few more years left to claim my pension and to be able to afford to pay the rising bills:-( hugs Jan xx

Good Afternoon Jan. Oh the reality of it all as well. You did a marvelous job with the parody. I love the original song and the Beatles. Yes, we all need to laugh and see some humor even though there is very much a serious side to this and I see that side very much. May we all endure. Bless the 94 year old. Have a wonderful afternoon. Well done

As usual you have managed to capture human frailties and emotions and weave them into a poem that is easy to relate to and understand. Emile.

It's rather a cynical view of life Emile, but people are having to work much longer before they even get a pension and for my son I wonder if there will be a pension pot at all when he comes to that age:-( hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, this is a wonderful read. As always, your fun is in there. I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SEEING 94. I will be happy to make it to seventy. I don't want to overdo things. I sang it a few times and it fits in so well to the tune. Well Jan, got to go out now so all i can say is, this is a wonderful write. It has to be a seven and a fave. Hugs....Mike. XX

Thanks so much Mike - with the way the pension age is increasing and people are living longer still working at 94 is a possibility especially for my son's generation!:-) hugs Jan xx

Superbly done, Jan. When I am 94 I shall be at a nonogenarian rave at Glastonbury in my voice controlled wheelchair, drinking Red Bull and playing my guitar. // Barry

I can feel this Jan. Our pensions are getting smaller and the government is getting greedier.

Hi Jan, As you know, I mentioned to you in the past that The Beatles are the best thing that ever happened to music since the dawn of time. Coincidentally, I listened to When I'm 64 yesterday evening by chance. It is still a great tune. I like your 94 version. What is another 30 years or so? What is age but another number. Fun read. Take care. Earl

Thanks Earl unfortunately with the way our pension ages are set to rise (and will continue to rise as the pension pots get smaller) I can see folk having to work to 94 just to make ends meet:-( hugs Jan xx
