Back In Time

I travel back in time when I close my eyes in dreams to childhood where I was a happy little girl until I was not then my world was silent and my tears fell happiness gone and my childhood died her death I will never ever forget her blood soaking the white snow mother screaming I have spent my life trying to forget Susan (but I cannot) forget her or mother's screams frozen in time ______________________ April 16, 2017 Free Verse/Back In Time Copyright Protected, ID 893011 Jamie's Interesting Contest 2 Jamie Pan 8th Place

Concise but powerful--especially the point that you were happy until . . . you weren't. Congrats on your win! Janice

Wow, Constance, this is a tough poem, each stanza powerful. I think there's no question that pain provokes many of us to write. Also think that almost all of us are broken in varying ways; it is the way of the world. Massive trauma, perhaps, or a death of a thousand cuts, or somewere in-between.
