The air is still and misty this morning, birds are singing me melodies in trills, as I shake off my dreamy dream, and rise from my bed, pulling on a purple silken robe, I pull a brush through my tangled hair: Awaken, my love . . . I whisper, have you slept well my prince? Then, I remember, and weep, for he is a name engraved forever, in cold stone ... How could I forget ?

Dear Constance, this is such a beautiful, sad poem that touches the heart of the reader. How could it not with the heartache of the raw daily realisation of anguish and loss after a night of dreams of which you have to awaken to. The reality of his absence, your prince, is haunting, as you face the day alone. The picture is poignant too. ‘ For he is a name engraved forever’ is so profound. You have expressed grief in all its rawness so poetically and from the heart.

The elegant verses in this poem effortlessly blend tranquility with raw emotion, creating a poignant portrayal of loss. The depiction of a figure donning a purple silk robe and whispering to their beloved prince beautifully captures the essence of soft yearning and heartache.
