Awaiting Her Return
She kissed me as she walked across the floor
the kind of kiss that sets a lonely tone
my heart sank at the sound of closing door
and left my spirit feeling all alone
to fam’ly obligations she must tend
and care for ailing dad her main concern
while I am left behind for self to fend
just sitting here awaiting her return
I wonder is this but an awful curse
for evil doings somewhere in the past
that I must bear a living so adverse
and pay with happiness as die is cast
I pass my time with feathered quill in hand
and pen my poems to cover up my yearn
just marking time in life so very bland
while sitting here awaiting her return
