Autumn Sacrifice
Autumn Sacrifice
Autumn empties herself out
EVERYTHING – her gifts from summer-spring maturity -
ALL her bounty – never hoarded in a grasping hand –
Gathered and released before howling hind sights come,
Before she sounds her eloquent abundance
From a clear and sweet cornucopia horn –
Before the silence of hibernation pauses her theme
Until future days bloom;
A WHOLE, complete unselfish sacrifice
SHOW her delight - GIVEN in selfless generosity –
Highlight the eternal mystery - abiding pure affection -
The barren giving birth in an everlasting rondelle.
