And the Earth Weeps

And the earth weeps Petunia petal’d tear drops on saffron colored morns fall deep in the shadows where sunshine is only a reflection of the beauty once shared ~ Clouded days sing dreary sonnets and all other butterflies are sad, for those cherished wings of brilliant colors are gone from this field ~ Now a misty shade of gray lingering in the thoughts of one so missed… finds the garden gates locked, never to open again ~ Where rainbows once shared blue hydrangea skies and daffodil promises carried our smiles, sorrow now gathers in shapeless corners, missing this butterfly all had so come to adore ~ and the earth weeps…

I love this, I love nature with all its colors. I'm glad you liked my Vanilla Twilight. I put another stanza on it. I was going to make it stand alone. But I thought to leave the whole poem like I wrote it in 2015. Your poem is 7 & more for sure :)

I love the way you depicted the grief that has overtaken nature; that is beautifully done. There is a group called Monarch Watch that is encouraging people to grow milkweed in their garden but I'm afraid it will not do much to restore their rapidly declining population. Amitiés

I am familiar with them and milkweed grows wild in these parts. I usually am visited by the monarch as they migrate, but not so much this year, though there is still time. Thank you Anne Marie. I appreciate you my friend.

Good Morning Chris. I very much enjoyed how you ended the entry with the title. I love that aspect and poetic touch. Nature is amazing with all the cycles it goes through and shows us but we can rest knowing that when there is darkness light has to follow or should I say when there is death or fade there will be rebirth. Wonderful thought and execution. Well done as always. Have a great morning.

Hi there again my friend. It always saddens me to see something die or fade away, whether a butterfly or a plant, but yes indeed, with each passing in nature there is sure to be a rebirth. Thank you so very much Lisa.

Hi Chris, A lovely journey seen through the eyes of nature. I am sure the clouds have their meaning. Just as there is something so pure about birds singing in spring, there is something just as special about each aspect of nature. Lovely poem :-)

We weep for beauty lost... a beautiful soul OR a beautiful butterfly. We are all of the earth. Lovely Chris !

I weep too. Been growing milkweed for the Monarchs. Saw none last year.

That is sad Maureen. I have butterflies every where in my yard. I usually do have the monarch pass through on their way to and from Mexico and I haven't seen them this year either. Thanks for reading my friend.
