An Angelic Visit

She floated on air in the midnight hour, Purity like heaven's angelic form In flowing gown of white chiffon vapour. Suddenly the air was calming and warm Me thinks I must be still soundly sleeping And dreaming of another time and place, Where one might go for eternal keeping. Softly weeping, I recognized her face Wordlessly she uttered with tender care The message I needed so much to hear, That she was alive in the vast somewhere But always, always staying very near To comfort me in times of bitter strife To guide me along in the paths of life. Thank you, Unseeking Seeker. This really happened to me when I was fifteen years old, some time following the "death" of my mother. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Caren, it is truth. Unbelievable, but completely true, and there is more to what happened, but I am saving that for another poem.

The wording reminds me a bit of Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Nice descriptiveness here.

I must tell you, this actually happened to me when I was fifteen years old. I didn't reveal in the poem who the night visitor was because I want to write another piece in which I will do that. Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure I've read that particular play, although, I've read most of Shakespeare's works over my lifetime.
