dust … they say ... dust ... to dust, yet I have measured the stars counted their intervals felt hope's whisper on my neck, keen kissed and cursed its face … I have tasted sweeter tongues cried for the bitter phrases they wagged given fealty to their resonance and the tamps and scratchings they quicken … I have cradled inception in my hands felt it tremble with wonder and fear … I have gazed on the bloom of consummation torn the tapestry from its form and let it dance in my skin … I have spilled raptured coursings to my veins yielded all I knew and held to their heat soaked my marrow in its drip and laughed at the madness of it all … I have defied oblivion’s cold consequence breathed its acrid air and bestirred its black womb … I have entered other souls - swum up the rills to their source and merged, chaotic, in the depths there lost forever ... complete … dust to dust, indeed still, all that is ... between. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "2019 Poetry Marathon Qualifiers' Final Placement" Poetry Contest, Mark Toney, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "2019 Poetry Marathon Mile 10" Poetry Contest, Mark Toney, judge & Sponsor.

Thank you very much, Mark, I greatly appreciate it - this was a fun series, and I hope it's something we see more of in the future, (I may do something similar if I ever finish my CD). Guess I chose poorly in the final, but that's the way the ball crumbles. Blessings!

Greg, I do not comment much anymore. I won't go into my reasons, but this is excellent poetry and so deserving. "Dust to dust" Those words carry such magnitude. I do not write free verse but reading yours is a pleasure. I knew from the first poem of yours I read, you had exceptional talent. Spill ink!

Very interesting word combinations Greg, oblivion's breath, cradled inception, bloom of consummation, poison rapture etc. An intensely satisfying read, you are tops again!

Powerful poetry, Gregory! The depth of thought/simplicity of expression ink poured in the crescendo is breathtaking ... Dust to dust, indeed. Still, all that is ... Between. Simply spectacular prose. Love and smiles always.

Penetrating, resonating imagery interwoven into a magnificent concept, centered on those timeless words: (Ashes to ashes); dust to dust...This is a masterpiece. it should be in "American Anthology," Poems of the 21st century. Bravo, maestro!!
