After the Rain
When sudden rainfall gushes here
A wharf’s landing dampens its floor…
Outside, inky cloudscapes appear
Like horse shadows crashing the shore.
Greater the pour as debris floats ,
Adrift through mist and teeming spray
While voyagers in painted boats--
Consider moorings a dismay.
Until gale considers to leave
As sunshine pours a hued beam
Enhancing the glitter of eve
As pilgrims land safely, upstream.
