Above the Bloody Waters
It was a sight for sore eyes;
This nightmare of the Gulf made us cry.
Katrina destroyed Mississippi and Louisiana.
They were ripped to shreds.
From a biblical perspective America made God mad.
My people swam to freedom.
The Madri Gras for the first time lost its rhythm.
So many lives were lost.
In a disaster of this magnitude human suffering paid the cost.
The media of this country exposed the truth.
Our own government left its people hungry, stranded, and dying on roofs.
They showed the world racism still exists.
But for five days man, woman, and child subsist.
So much strife and mayhem devastated two states.
America has to learn quickly from her mistakes.
After the storm families and lives are forever shattered.
In horror we watched rapes, death, starvation, and a race being battered.
There were looters, armed bandits, and floating corpses.
Question: “Why did it take five days for support?”
As the bloody cold water recedes we need to give God praise, honor and believe
