I saw it from afar while out of town.
A somber feeling gnawed at me inside;
a photo of a girl with a sad frown,
clutching her doll- together, unified.
“Abandoned”- was the word for what I felt!
Why did she look so sad holding her toy?
This eerie feeling caused my heart to melt.
What happened to remove her sense of joy?
As I moved close, I saw this poster hung
upon on a pole and dated years ago.
Beneath her picture, that word “missing” stung-
and then, instinctively I came to know-
The search had been abandoned and did end;
forsaken twice- the doll, her only friend.
