She's bound by chains too hard for her to break Alive and yet she tastes a living death Morality and ethics round her neck And so she plans to rob her soul of breath The flames of hell are licking at her feet In torture is her soul in need of love A proffered gift of passion undenied Would bring upon her wrath from God above To convent in the hills she must escape Confession make and plead for mercy there Or else her heart and soul to crucify And end the call of pleasure, beauteous fair Betwixt morality and passion lies The sweet seduction in a lover’s eyes Jade Celeste

I wonder if for those who went to convents would being away from men make the burden harder or easier??

Morals that yoke our hearts are but nightmares in disguise...your pain of passion suppressed is a test of your lover's arms to heal a conflicted soul Eileen. Perhaps passion should be your moral for it trails love. You are too rebellious for a convent woman...it would be ablaze in short time by your brilliant independence. This is poetry of astonishing drama! J.A.B.

Thank you for your visit, Justin. This has been a moral dilemma for millions. Have you watched the Thorn Birds with Richard Chamberlain? A lovely story...So much could be said on this topic...It is a very relevant and pertinent one for many, I'm sure...Drama...you know is my middle name...the first...PASSION. Thank you.

A very sombre poem. My sense of morality and ethics are not as they were earlier in my life, yet still they weigh heavy on my soul. too much pain in this world. Love Shane xxx

How often I have fought this battle . . . how often I have traded my soul for trinkets instead of pure love . . . your words struck home dear Little One.

Morality and passion are the battle of the mind and heart, Charmaine. It is an age old battle. Some have won...some have lost...and some are in the valley of indecision. Worldly standards have changed, but there are some unshakeable standards...which all need to keep in mind. THAT's where the struggle lies. Thank you for your love and friendship. Hugs
