A Talk With My Ego

“You must stop this ruling of me, Please let me go, I must be free.” Smiling, Ego said mockingly, “It’s you who chooses what you'll be. It’s quite simple for all to see, All my power doth come from thee. In myself, that’s where I invest. I have no say in your request. You’re free to go, to rule your own ship, Give to me the old pink slip. Find the passion that’s within you. Do whatever you love to do. Make life an adventure, a quest. Earn an “A” on life’s biggest test, Live everyday as if your last, Show your real self, take off the mask.”

great poem. I especially liked the taking off the mask part. The good old Ego and ID!!! I enjoyed learning that stuff in my college days

Bill, this is really good - I have often wondered if we really have free will... in most cases our loss of personal freedom or quest for adventure seems to be built-in to our own self-defeating habits.

I like the way you wove the 'mask' into this one. Every day is Mardi Gras these days. Thanks, Bill. ~ Gershon

And every day we discover someone that wears that mask, how shallow they can be, ego versus humility, the latter being something we should all learn to practice. A very thought provoking write. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
