"And all at once summer collapsed into fall . . ."

_Oscar Wilde

_______________________

I smiled when the birds sang for me, a sweet chirp, chirp song with delight; just so blissful in the high tree, though a loud wind blew- they sang bright. The Fall leaves were slowly drifting, oh, love when nature is shifting; I like to gather colored leaves. oh dear- some are stuck in the eaves. The birds sang for me when I smiled, with delight a sweet chirp chirp song; in a high tree just so blissful, they sang bright- though a loud wind blew. I adore a stroll in the rain; but a torrent is just a pain! ________________________ September 9, 2020 Poetry/Sonnet/Charonnet/A Stroll in the Rain Copyright Protected, ID 20-1284-492-03 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La France Written for the contest, Charonnet sponsor, Charles Messina Third Place

Constance, this was one of my fav's written for my contest. Unfortunately, the last stanza was a little off and I apologize for not explaining the rules well enough in my contest. Anyway, I hope all is well and Congratulations on your fine placement in my contest. Best wishes...Charlie

Great write. Just recheck charles sample poem for contest. In that the third stanza line 1 was made of 2nd half of first line of 1st line of first stanza and first half of second line of first stanza. Second line of 3rd stanza is first half of first line and 2nd half of second line of first stanza. Just reconfirm. I may be wrong, but this is what I saw. Take care. Warm regards Rama

Rama, Thanks for the compliment, and I will check out what you wrote, it is all very confusing, but I may just leave the poem as is even it means not placing will have to see how difficult it is to change if what you wrote is accurate _Constance

Thank you for sharing this walk with us, Constance. I love the way you describe how "Nature is shifting." I bet the leaves are already changing colors where you live. Wish I could see them. A lovely entry for Charlie's contest. Best wishes for success! Hugs, Carolyn
