For the Soupsters Unite And Write! Poetry Contest of Benjamin Bartley

________________________________________________________________

For Soupers lost – a beautiful bouquet: for Devonshire and our sweet Connie Wong (to name at least a few who passed away.) The list of those deceased has now grown long since I first came to this site years ago. I wish that all the new arrivals here who make Soup great had had the chance to know the poets who once brought to us such cheer. Please make some time to visit poems of Dave Austin, Rico, Milton, Ryerson, Harry Horseman, and many more! With love, I reminisce about them and anyone whom I’ve not named who graced this lovely place. Their poetry nobody can replace.

Hey, Andrea, great you knew so many…I hope to not be missed! Some of those you mentioned, are the reason I am still here. But I would be remiss in not stating that my personal feeling is loving those who are yet among us! They are alive and well, new and ignored? Sometimes they need a nudge or even a soupmail. Not all can comment everyday. The dead are with God. Let us not pass by the living! Pangie

I used to comment to more. More than ever read me, i found out by going back to the beginning. I never waited for a comment. But it shocked me to see how little I was read. And I kept on writing and reading anyway. Like commenting 10 hours a day. I would not do that again. Plus writing 10 poems a day. Too old now ..lOL Pangiexx

The living just have to get involved same as you and I did, and then they will fit in just fine here. If I had the time I'd seek out newbies, but anyone who finds me and comments to me will always get a comment back and will have a new friend here.

what a lovely tribute Andrea and there are many poets missing in action now, some like Mr Viv have simply have lost the desire to post, others ... who knows where they are but they are sadly missed. I hope to be a little more active when the book is finished but my desire to write for soup is diminished. hugs jan xx

A thoughtful tribute to the dear poets who departed. I don't know all the poets referred by you. But Connie, Harry Horseman, Rico and Milton, I can never forget. They graced our site with their wonderful poems. Glad their memories are revived. All the Best, dear Andrea.

Wonderful to have fond memories of Soupers we have lost, I remember Carol Sunshine Brown, who used to greet new poets with an encouraging word..

What a wonderful write for the soupers lost. Lost but not forgotten. As years go by the list is getting longer. Each very different in how they did write. "Good Luck" Looks like we both did this one. Have a fun day writing away.................

Well done, Andrea; we have been blessed over the years with many fine creative writers, now no longer with us physically -- yet they live in our hearts, kept members for fond reunion by our gracious host, Soup.

The ones that passed away are in a far better place, so although I miss them, I feel that THEY are feeling really good, especially if reunited with loved one who went before.

Thanks for the Memory Andrea, there were a few who were friends of mine too. Connie was a good friend and we spoke on the phone a few times, and not forgetting Winged Warrior, a dear friend who was very astute and loved quantum physics and galictic interstellar science. Ron and he used to talk for hours on the phone. We wrote some poems together. I still regret not starting the childrens book he was planning with me. Of course Harry Horseman was another PS friend. Hugs Maria

I think I did not know Winged WArrior very well, but I can remember people mentioning it when he died. Sorry you couldn't not finish out your plan with him. That's cool you got to talk to Connie. I had phone converations with her too. I knew her since 2002 when I was just starting out!

I miss many of them too, Harry Horseman a favorite. Revisiting their poems brings them back to "life!" (Just as you have done here... Thank you for this memorial poem! Warm Hugs)
