A Sense of Emptiness
Listen to poem:
to acknowledge my pain
this emptiness in my soul I contain
where loneliness abides
and my reflection hides
when every thought divides
as my spirit pulls away from my brain
to leave a deeper hole
that swallows another piece of my soul
with its breadth and its girth
and scarcity of dearth
with no purpose or worth
where there's nothing left for me to console
this dark desolate space
with its origins, I can never trace
where shadows come to dwell
to own my empty well
with churning raging hell
to burn in my bottomless pit my face
my soul will always cry
for unknown reasons with the question why
for whom am I to blame
with nothing left to claim
only ashes remain
they'll be a hole in my soul when I die
