A Mystery of God

One does not earn sainthood. Often the most unlikely of men considered -- as with St. Paul, an early persecutor, murderer of Christians on the road to Damascus struck blind -- when it is time, God's time, He chooses~ smacks oblivious soul upside the head...his first conscious reaction is that of awesome dread~ startling revelation one really not having liberty to debate nor decline Like water into wine as hands-on carpenter, son transformed to Blessed Soul Cleansing Sacrificial Son Divine.

Hi Sal, Thank you. I just went to an Episcopalian web site -- the celebration of All Saints Day is quite profound, beautiful and definitely Christ like in my opinion. The Mass blew me away, very spiritual. Blessings my friend.

There are many saints whose lives began badly. St Augustine of Hippo and St Ignatius are just two of them. St Paul was of course the greatest.

Thank you, IE; if I can be allowed to add just a little more on Saint Hood and Angels. Only how I see it. I am no theologian, nor priest, nor rabbi etc., Saint is a man-made term -- a church term, a way of praising the works of very good people -- angel is something entirely different, good people do not die and some elevated to Angel Status (Angel is Angel) -- what we are are sons and daughters of the most high, heirs to the kingdom -- what Christians strive for is to be like Christ, our Divine Brother. What greater honor, achievement?! Paul said: "Follow me as I follow the Christ" -- Christ said: "I am the way and the truth and the Life".

his first conscious reaction is that of awesome dread~ startling revelation one really not having liberty to debate nor decline…love that notion. When Saul was hot over the head, He realized who the real God is. What did he feel? Shame? Panic? Awe…gulp, yes. Don’t have to be a murderer to fall like a deadman at the feet of God. What will we feel? God’s grace and love shines through.

When I realized how far from God I had been, all of my own doing, and how much grace He had given me, allowing me to continue though my path destructive, after the awe, the shaking and trembling in the the presence of Almighty, I felt lifted and loved to eternity.

It is true that one doesn't become a saint by choice. God chooses. But to be chosen by God, we need to have certain qualifications. St Paul was a persecutor....of Christians! But God knew he was zealous. Through contrition, if one turns to God, he will perhaps work miracles in him. God knew St. Paul will be steadfast in his mission. When he was hurled down and was struck blind, he didn't debate nor rebel. So God raised him. Great poem dear Joe

Once his mind made up, latched on like a pit-bull:) I think, my friends, enlightening observations you tenderly share with us. God knows our hearts and souls despite self-induced blindness (as I see it)~ In the presence of Pure Love, all doubt is dispelled.

Not sure Joe meant that, but perhaps in such awe you feel disinclined to debate the Holy God. Saul’s zeal was misguided…God set the young man on the right track. How many meet the crossroads…perhaps all of us. Hugs ~ Kim

One does not earn Sainthood, I agree with you, one gets clothed in the light of it by living a good life, and becoming enlightening, one good day after another, by deed and prayer, love this Joe

As Christ told the thief on the cross, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." God loves us all dearly, all having equal share in His Kingdom -- whether street cleaner or Prince, our duty to bloom where ever He has planted us. Blessings my friend.
