Poet’s note

Inspired by my son’s visit to Venice last weekend. A little poetic licence I knew he’d arrived but it’s taken him 3 days to let me know he’s back home safely – grr kids!!! Son isn’t called Dennis, perhaps I should have rhymed Venice with menace!

Son why don’t you call and tell me you’re fine; I am out of my mind with the worry. Fun are you having ... just drop me a line; why not text, words could fly in a flurry. Hun, please contact me, just give me a sign sigh...what’s it with kids, mine does not hurry! Today you sent me photos of Venice Hooray you’ve arrived - I’m relieved Dennis! My older daughter answers her phone and answers my texts immediately. My younger daughter does just the opposite. It is maddening. I agree. A great entry for the contest Jan. : ) xxoo

I can so relate to this! I called the phone company and had them put a note on my daughter's dorm room once to say she was alive. On her way to the room six other people yelled "call your mother." I phoned every number I could find on that college campus. Great poem!

Cute! ... Have to wonder a bit: How old is Dennis now? Keep in mind, my friend, that young men need and treasure their independence. (It's a necessary part of their growing up, and there's usually nothing exasperated Moms can do about it. I know. I'm married to one!... and I was once just such a young man! LOL). Dennis will be fine, I'm sure.... WORRY! (What good would it do to tell you not to?...) Best always, Gershon

Great write. It really captures the feeling when you don't hear from a child. Enjoyed.

Oh no, never pocket change, the kids are successful, but down pymt for large ticket items like cars or homes--$11k was the smallest amount--let's just say that I own several vehicles and eleven homes.
