A Long Forgotten Place
While wandering back to my days of yore,
I see a path and know I must turn right.
Through tangled weeds, I make my way. Before
me is the cottage! In the final light
of day it stands in shambles. Sky above
bleeds crimson. Memories come flooding me.
I wish that I could harvest the sweet love
that shone forth from their faces! Now I see
them in my misty mind’s eye. Far away -
as if tossed by a tempest – they are gone,
some to their final rest. My yesterday,
gone too, was once a beautiful bright dawn.
What used to be - for me - my saving grace
will one day be a long forgotten place.
