A Leaf

Meditating on the season, I
took notice of a leaf's dramatic
fall -- a fascinating journey: a
quarter past first marvelous budding~
soon unfolding into towering
presence...now~ dynamic
parting: flamboyant waving,
a curtsy and leap,
a spin with colorful grin,
supported by daffy current --
playful rocking, showy gliding -
faking downing, direct sliding
then again rising, as a royal nose --
at last arriving at inevitable rest

back when the spring commeth
             re-leaf….

The journey of the leaf is fascinating, indeed. I like this thought, ' a spin with colorful grin ' with ' playful rocking. ' Always being a show off, in such a clever and creative way. :) The beauty is breathtaking. Congratulations Joe, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Joe, you have beautifully summed up the downward journey of a leaf once it is let out from the hold of its mother tree. The movement is slow and not in a linear way, but in playful gliding, direct sliding, then again rising before its final landing for rest. Great description. Congratulations on your POTD. Enjoy your honor.

Hello Joe, a POTD marvel. I felt like I was watching the leaf perform a solo ballet where each line a movement, each metaphor a gesture of grace and surrender. I think you’ve captured the whole arc of being in a single fall. - Blessings, Joe, Daniel
