Change Is Inevitable
Depression comes in many forms,
including thoughts of suicide.
And you start to entertain a multitude
of sad and bewildering emotions
that fester away
in the back of your mind.
Somehow your soul has lost its way,
and you wander blindly
amidst subconscious thoughts.
And yet, suicide is not an answer.
In fact; it's the direct result of a lack of answers,
and is impulsive and nonretractable.
A persistent deflating of one's self-worth
fuels feelings that manifest as acid tears;
bleaching the life out of dreams and wishes.
And you seek refuge
from the onslaught of life's compromises;
hoping to find it
within the quietus of eternal sleep.
But if you give up on life,
it means your demons have won.
And like Shylock, death will claim its pound of flesh
from those that have lost hope; and feel helpless.
Wanting your misery to end,
you may see no other way out.
But give yourself time;
if nothing else,
humans are resilient
and change is inevitable.
