One year for Mother's day, my family all pitched in and gave me sixteen Red-Tip plants to plant as a hedgerow..They all got out there and helped plant them..We enjoyed them for years..They grew to be about sixteen feet tall but came down with a fungi to which they were susceptible..The only treatment was to spray them and they had grown so tall that my husband felt that it was best to just push them up and burn them..
The greatest gift sixteen new plants
Red-Tip Photinias those transplants
My children contributed funds
Husband and children dug in grounds
Vision_ something to pass descendants
Their beauty was one of constants
They caught disease an accident
In my memory they still stand.
The greatest gift,
Came down with a fatal ailment
Those Red-Tips were greatest accent
In winter they helped block north winds
Were more valuable than diamonds
Those Red-Tips, but to fire went
The greatest gift.
