there are no guarantees in this life
(will there even be a tomorrow?)
each day is a gift
and I have learned to live in precious moments
as days unfold . . .
and I am excited and grateful
for one more dawn, one more day
I do have some wishes and dreams though
(not big ones really)
and one is to be . . .
the best writer and poet I can be in my lifetime
(it is a work in progress, half way there !)
my grandma is the reason I am a writer at all
she encouraged a little girl to "write it"
"write it, for the world to read"
from silly little girl scribbles to real poetry
a poet was born . . .
I dream of a world free of this pandemic we have
for a vaccine available to every single person on earth
and when the travel restrictions are lifted
and I can breathe without a mask restricting me
I want to explore my own country
from coast to coast
the vast and beautiful Canada
her crystal clear rivers and lakes
her green lush forests
find the northern lights
my native roots . . .
and even visit France the home of my ancestors
it is just a dream I have . . .
and to sketch and paint the birds and flowers
I encounter along the way
keeping a nature journal of my journey
of this bucket list dream . . .
and maybe one day to find love again
for my life is a garden ravaged since death took
my one true love, it is time
and it is another dream
I dream _
