Beneath the full and haunting moon
On a cold, dark, stormy, rainy, October night
Brought a white ghostly goon
And screaming fears of flight.
Scratching on the window-glass,
Glowing, piercing, slit eyes were staring back at me.
Sitting on the window sill, with a purring an insolent sass
In it came, from the windy rain, when I open the window, with cries.
Slowly approach, jumps and sits on my lap,
I petted it.
Suddenly, it bit my wrist and threw in a terse hiss. It flattened its ears,
Hair and tail arise, slapping and clawing my legs
With burning sparks in its wake.
It runs and jumps out the window into the rainy night.
