* So Long Year
So long year, you came in for me
like the Mother Loins in Africa who,
attack those who might harm their
young, but you have gone out like
the water being sprayed from the
hoses of the firemen who fight to
put out the mighty flames erupting.
I am ready to take the paths set in
front of me with my tired worn out
feet I will one foot in front of the
other as painful as it will be never
looking back at you or regretting what
you had given me or taken away
because you are now forgotten like the
flames that were drowned by the water.
Some scars may remain, to remind me
to not go there again, but I am ready
to take the New Year ahead and make it
the best I can, it too will bring many storms,
that will feel like they may engulp me but,
only then will I give you that slight thought
to remind me I got though what you had
given and I too will get through this as well.
