On the 1st day of Christmas my hometown gave to me a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 2nd day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 3rd day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 4th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 5th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 6th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me a 6 pack of Dixie, 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, two mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 7th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie, 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin, and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 8th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 8 passes to Audubon Zoo, 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 9th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 9 Voodoo dolls, 8 passes to Audubon Zoo, 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie, 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 10th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 10 lbs. of boiled crawfish, 9 Voodoo dolls, 8 passes to Audubon Zoo, 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie, 5 Cafe' De Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 11th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 11 Randazzo King Cakes, 10 lbs. of boiled crawfish, 9 Voodoo dolls, 8 passes to Audubon Zoo, 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade On the 12th day of Christmas my hometown gave to me 12 bonfires on the levy, 11 Randazzo King Cakes, 10 lbs of boiled crawfish, 9 Voodoo dolls, 8 passes to Audubon Zoo, 7 alligators, a 6 pack of Dixie, 5 Cafe' Du Monde beignets, 4 Oyster Po Boys, 3 bowls of gumbo, 2 mosquitoes buzzin' and a ride in Rex's Mardi Gras parade

Thank you for entering your awesome poem in the contest Lin. New Orleans sounds amazing. My friend lived in Monroe, LA and we use to dream of taking a trip to New Orleans during Mardi Gras when we were young, maybe we still can someday. I wish I could soup mail you but didn't see you come up in the contacts.

I'm not fond of crayfish either, but load my plate with shrimp and crab and I'm satisfied. You know about the beignets because you saw the painting I gave CJ showing how delicious they look. Merci, mon ami.

Thanks, Danny. I wanted to include a Hurricane from Pat O’s but after one I would’ve slurred all the rest of the gifts. Ie: a dix pack of Sixie. Glad tidings to you, too!

Oh the beignets are delicious fried donuts sprinkled with powdered sugar! Too early for Christmas, yes, but you can’t walk into a store without seeing the decorations. What happened to appreciating Thanksgiving?
