- the Harps of Silence -

no one saw it,no one heard it
                                        abyss of loneliness
                               the life ebbs - no doubt, bit by bit 
                                no one should have to die alone
                                  "please, see me dear sister"
                                 in a bed at the nursing home
                               no one can hear her quiet voice
                                    "can I borrow your hand"
                              heartbreakingly sad, but no choice

Unfortunate how even in old age and especially then how life still can be so difficult. I volunteered with my church to read the bible at a senior facility. The leader stopped at Christmas time. I love them all and hope they’ve been doing alright. God bless them all! Panagiota Romios Date: 10/17/2020 4:36:00 PM AnneLise, here stateside, the old are left alone with no visitors. I have seen them, staring into space. Years ago, the elderly stayed with family. Now they are institutionalized. I saw how my Mom was treated in one after a broken ankle. I said she is not staying HERE. I fought to get her out. It wasn't easy being her nurse 24/7. She later had strokes and heart attacks. I did CPR. Then I had to tube feed her, bathe her, Clean the catheter, etc. hospice nurses came by.Death behind glass? Sad.
