The raven is not without talent their intelligence is highly developed With beauty in blue-black plumage or green-black sheen It flies with skill on steep and high mountain slopes for everybody to admire The raven symbolizes magic and mysticism Black birds have always been regarded as companions of witches, evil and death - with understanding eyes the game of chess has long since ended

The raven (for me) always holds echoes to Poe's remarkable poem to this mystical creature. So enjoyable to read your poem which adds to the canon of this iconic bird. Best wishes, Brian

what a beautifully descriptive tribute Anne-Lise, although i do find them to be quite scary with those ebony feathers and beady eyes. hugs Jan

Artfully written, and adorned with exquisite imagery. The resplendent obsidian plumage of these creatures possesses an undeniable beauty, yet an air of foreboding forever envelops them. Your eloquent poem serves as a splendid tribute, illuminating their enigmatic essence.

A favorite poem of mine and subject of ages. Poe knew well of the Raven wrongly assailed, and some dear people I know in a way are witches who don't know it -- good ones of course, saying devout prayers for divine, supernatural intervention. We often lose sight in titles and rituals. Fail to see God clearly for our own misguided, feeble, prejudiced attempts at defining and knowing Him better, the Bible used as a weapon instead of a book of love and eternal salvation. Excellent poem!

I like your poem it's not as dark as "once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary" Edgar Allan Poe, yours gives the raven a better outlook...good luck, dear poet '

Their iridescent ebony feathers are beautiful, but they always seem so ominous to me. You’ve scribed a fine testament to highlight them.
