A name means nothing on the battlefield. "Julius Caesar" Test of conscience: tainted with guilt — behind woven brocade luxury silk ties. Public praise, laurel wreath. Ridiculous reasoning.

So sadden with the state of humanity. This poem is so poignant, Anne-Lise.

Anne-Lise, you've created another wise and sentient masterpiece. We become sacrificial lambs for someone's pride. Really is ridiculous indeed! Smiles!

Dear anne lise, love this poem that delivers so much, i love how youv mentioned julius caesar here too. A name means nothing, like shakespearre said “ whats in a name” in battlefields and in certain aspects of life, what matters is one’s consciousness! Powerful poem. Well delivered. Pleasure reading. Sending you light always

A man may get public praise and laurel wreaths. But they are of no value if he has no conscience. What matters more is integrity of character. Beautifully written, dear Anne. Love and hugs

Anne-Lise, this is a fantastic poem. Since everything appears to be getting worse all the time, your vivid descriptions are spot on with the facts. Warm hugs

What words to ponder, Anne Lise! When men retire from praising man and return to considering the alternative. Then we will have passed on to a Millenium of hallelujahs for what God has done, does, and will do eternally.

The Statue of Liberty weeps. Great imagery as you portray the truth since the world seems to be going from bad to worse. Hugs

Yep, character is what matters. Deeds speak louder than any draped words and images. Well said.

I am embarrassed of the outcome in our world. I hurt that it might get worse. Enjoyed reading my friend.

Dear Anne-Lise, You know when it is great when the words pierce like a blade carrying a historical and moral weight. The imagery of brocade and laurel wreaths contrasts hauntingly with guilt and ambition. Strikingly evocative commentary. Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
