White Curtains

White Curtains

The room is nothing special. A double bed with a cream duvet against a bland eggshell wall. A picture of a sailboat on the ocean that looks like it might have been painted by a child. Somehow the proportions aren’t quite right, but the pastel colours are pretty. It’s late so they slip under the duvet. She says “It’s hot, could you open the door a crack?” He gets up from the bed and pulls the white curtains back so he can slide open the door. As he closes the white curtains he thinks ”It’s pretty how the light breeze blows them.” It reminds him of how the afternoon breeze blew her veil and long blonde hair. As he slips into bed his new bride is fast asleep. He kisses her softly on the lips and a few moments later he joins her in slumber.

“Whisper my darling
Breathe lovely into my life”
Passionate ripples

lips caress his neck
feeling pulse at her center
mutual release

sun streams through curtains
naked in each others arms
their morning delight

WOW! For a first, you sure did well, Rick. I like the setting, the softly blowing curtain, the helping the one you love by open the door for a fresh breeze. Joining her in bed with a kiss. The mention of newlyweds, then the consummation of their vows. A new day and the joy of newlyweds. The prose and the poetry melded together seamlessly. A FAV for this first one, my friend. I hope it gets attention and a POTD award. Bill

those last three stanzas (save a couple uv punctual deferments) that's what i'm talk'n 'bout..spill'n on slip with little drips; get'n your reader to dream your dream without the composition!...that's all ya had to say dear poet...get rid uv the prose vide supra...change the form to "free verse" ;) i git it though Richard, it's a Haibun...i wrote something similar recently, yet i called it "free verse".."james' feminine" i wuz happy to see you here sir..have an awesome Autumn...much love, james

You have created a very romantic scene. The room though not quite cozy is fit for a bridal chamber with a double bed and windows shielded by white curtains. As their lips caress, the prelude to their love life begins. Beautiful Haibun dear friend.
