Thoughts In Noir

On misted streets of fog and pain
With lamp post lighted thoughts of rain
The city, bleak in heart’s demise
Is cold, as tears now taunt my eyes

To walk in disappointment’s dawn
The streets grow weary as I yawn
Though every life must sometimes shade
                         I contemplate decisions made

And though we all know things must end
And good things break and others bend
It’s hard to fathom graying skies
                          When promises are often lies

Yet, something always fills the crack
A light that somewhere has my back
To lift the fog of morning chill
                       And somehow reinstate my will

Mike, this is just my kind of poem. Nicely metered and rhymed, slightly sad but ending with hope. Love your imagery, especially "To walk in disappointment’s dawn", and "To lift the fog of morning chill". Beautifully written and worthy of POTW. Well done.

' A light that somewhere has my back, something always fills the crack.' This thought says it all for me. A perfect reminder that: at just the right moment, ( something or someone ) makes the pain or darkness disappear. Your thoughts caress softly around me and my heart. Congratulations Mike, on Poem of the Week. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Congratulations, Mike, on POTW, it is a stark journey through misted streets of emotion. Your verses paint a vivid picture of heartache and contemplation, yet within the gloom, there's a resilient spirit. The acknowledgment of life's complexities and the hopeful undercurrent make this poem a compelling reflection on resilience and self-discovery. Blessings, Daniel
