Self Satisfaction

The will to live is a sacred thing
Not just a small opportunity
But a message in the service we bring
The purpose to burn and truly trust
The definition people make of us
Are we nameless though we have a name
Fruitless without fortune or fame
Loveless without posterity or mate
Without us what were others fate
Because of you were others feed
Was shelter provided, Holy Blood shed
Have we fought, protest or even mentioned
The case of any human condition
Are we for or against revolution
Have we done more than our shadow or reflection
Has man or history recorded some type of progression
Have you with your voice silenced persecution
Is there someone who does not deserve execution
For escaping a slavery or a holocaust
because of race or color is a freedom lost
Who are we really when it comes to cost
Did we fight to win or our defeat a martyr loss
Can duty be considered a sacrifice
Can we summon courage or even fight
Or loss of our loves the definition of blight
Or be conditioned to forgive after loss of life
Have not heroes given sample for us
When wrongs reach us with bribes and lust
Can we carry the flag or beat the drum
Sing the anthem or to ourselves hum
Can we give ourselves wholly
to the One who is Holy
And be satisfied with who we are?

"Can we give ourselves wholly to the One who is Holy And be satisfied with who we are?" If we can do this, then joy and cintentment will automatically come and flood our lives. After a series of questions that penetrate our concience, you have come to a wise solution dear friend. Well written.

Ah...lovely write. Those last lines are especially powerful. I visited this poem before and tried to post a comment, but it didn't go through. Love the internal rhyme here. Great job.

Good questions you propose. I would suggest a balance: satisfied to a degree but always striving to better ourselves, morally, spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally. To reach wholeness

So many questions only you and the Lord can only answer. Very interesting and enjoyed reading.

So many questions that each of us must answer for ourselves. As for me, I believe we all have the blueprint for how to create a heaven here on earth. Very thought-provoking poem my friend.
