Bright red poppies, and yellow celandines Swayed all around, as a balmy breeze blew. Aiding agile grey geese gracefully glide. Above the shade of a cluster of oaks. A few old men tended a flock of sheep, Most chewed unleavened bread, nibbling on cheese. Till to a tavern they'd go, to drink beer. Placed 1

Dear Victor, Oh my I felt like I dropped gently into a pastoral painting, where time slows, colors soften, and the soul exhales. There's a quiet reverence in your lines, a kind of grounded beauty that comes not from grand gestures, but from noticing, the way geese glide, the way old men chew bread in rhythm with the land. Excellent Poem! Summer Blessings, Dear Victor, Daniel

Rustic scenes and rustic life are equally energising and beautiful. Who wouldn't love the countryside with snow tipped mountains, gurgling rivulets and shepherds tending sheep ! Lovely poem.

This poem portrays a place that seems like paradise. I loved reading about this idyllic spot; and the beautiful picture, with its winding stream, is a fine companion. :)

Hey, good looking. The picture appeals to me so much that added to your BEAUTIFUL poetic lines, I simply have to get small or whatever to live in that picture. That's what I want to do. My little girl imagination soared at the pic, my woman loved the words, so I have to go! You are welcome to get small and visit me in Idyllic land anytime. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Dearest Victor, such a vivid, serene snapshot of nature and simple life. I could almost feel the breeze and see the poppies sway. The old men tending sheep and ending their day with beer adds a warm, timeless touch. Beautifully captured. Good luck in the contest...hugs
