Our Little Sammy (update) - Donna Golden's Blog

Hello, friends! It's been awhile since I've posted here, as I've been either out of town or working for most of the summer. I have had some of you requesting an update on my nephew, Sam. He has been undergoing chemotherapy since the end of May, and has had his struggles and his victories. He goes in every other weekend for treatments. There are five day treatments and two day treatments. The two day treatments are concentrated, and therefore, the most difficult with regards to side effects. He lost his beautiful red hair during the first month of chemo treatments, and his father, grandfather, and cousin all shaved their heads so that Sam wouldn't feel alone. That, to me, is so very precious and loving. He has had difficulty with his mobility, but has overcome that obstacle for the most part and gets around pretty well. There are days that he is tired of being sick and struggles with the illness as would be expected. But Sam is strong, and determined (not to mention covered HEAVILY in prayer)! His latest tests showed that he is doing as well as we could have hoped! The chemo has done its job and the cancer has not spread. He is now ready for radiation. This treatment, as you may know, has its own ugly side effects. Please join me in continuing to lift Sam and his family up to the Lord. We ask for minimal to no nerve damage, and ALWAYS will believe for total healing! Thanks again to all of you who continue to support me and my family in this battle that my sweet nephew is fighting. Sam will be celebrating his 6th birthday next month! We pray that it will be a joyous occasion. Love and hugs, Donna
