There are some poets that I just don't read after selecting a few of their poems and realising they are not worth my time. I also try to select poems from poets that I have not read before, or works from those I like and enjoy reading.

Years ago, I was a so excited to join a community I posted around 10 poems and was quickly attacted as being rude. I had no idea and felt horrible once it was pointed out to me. Then when I sincerely apologized and didn't post anything for several days, the person who had given me my V8 moment then felt equally as bad and sent me a huge apology, as she realized I was a newbie and totally unaware of how my posting affected the other poets. So, I've been on both sides. When I joined soup, it was with clearer eyes and a deeper awareness of this concern. I think I've posted 5 poems in one day, but only once. I usually post one a day. And I try to keep it down to 3 blogs a week, but I love writing blogs as I am more comfortable with the longer format and creative non-fiction is a second passion of mine. Good blog, Nathan. Though I think those who do this on he poetry page don't read the blogs... If you want to make a point, post this as a poem as the topic CONFUSION and post it 5 times

The most I have posted in one day is thirteen. I was very naive then. Now I try to post no more than five, and that's very rare these days. <> As it's a community site, there is no rule as to how many are posted. However I do agree with Nate, that it's common sense to post up to five, if anything, let as many share in the posting top 200. No use when a few are suffocating the Top 200 <> Koolio and meaning post Nate :)

Unless they're cancer ridden, like I saw in a comment below, I agree. I think some new poets don't understand that posting all of their poems at once is not going to get them viewed and just annoys people. maybe ps could mention this when a person is creating an account? It is poetry ettiquette. No more than 5 is my vote.

I personally don't do it, but as Joann was posting a serial it was neccesary, it really doesn't bother me that much..I suppose it's better than none at all.David

Okay. I see how the multiple posting affects other poets on this site now. Like I said below, I haven't been here long and didn't exactly know where you were coming from. That makes perfect sense. I think I have been an offender before...:( A new poet here may get excited and post a lot of old poems without knowing he or she is hogging. I think I posted 3 or 4 today...all new this morning and mostly just for contests or to try a new form. I honestly never gave my poems getting lots of reviews a thought. I do it only because I enjoy it...writing is actually 3rd or so on my list of hobbies. Ignorance really is bliss, I reckon. Thanks for the education!

I posted a large number yesterday, but usually only one or two. I had one long poem that I could only post in small bits, perhaps I should have only posted one part each day. The others were all posted so that I could enter them into a contest. I do not know how to enter a poem without posting it first. So, my apologies for hogging the 'recent poems' list yesterday.

I also want to thank all the poets, who wait for me to post a poem.... And all the huge amount of support I get without posting. Gees! I love the soup... No wonder Nathan, you hate my ego..when I say ..na na..na.. And by the way .. About poets on line...just cause you see 10 poets on line.. Does not mean crap... a poets name removes itself soon after...lots of times when im on line, my name don't even appear after an hour... Wala...it's like magic. And another thing...poets don't have to be on line, to click a view... I view poems all the time with out being on line... I see poets I like, I read their poems and comment later...gees I love the soup... Even when jealousy speaks... I love it... And Nathan,... my ego will speak again... " I have the shortest blog ever," I posted a blog..with nothing inside... Still I love you...and im sorry for being rude today... He he he..did you like seeing me, flip out..watching my daughter call,me over and over..while attending them customers... Love u..pd

Its almost as annoying as seeing theres only 10 poets online but the poem posted above you is sitting on 8o - 100 views Lol...the things people will do to get further up a list that really means nothing.

Lol, Nate... I see where you are coming from... But, Nike :-) says to "do it¡" Anyways... I don't post much...but, the gospel says " he who speaks first¦ speaks last" or was that Reverend Love Joy¡ Okay! okay! I think, if you want to be read..you should not post non-stop... I think poets join the soup, to be read... So why ruin your chances... And post over 5 poems. I know when im commenting the new poems of the day.... I skip lots of poets who don't want to be read...cause if they wanted to ne read...they limit the posting... I also won't post a poem, if I notice a poet posting lots of poems that limit itself from views... Come on poets... You can't say it does not agitate you. when a large amount of poems are bumping every poem off the new poem list. It gets me mad that a poet posting over 5 poems, bumps off poems that want to be read... Ta ta..for now

Ha! And why not? Do you not wish to be a steward of mediocrity, or are the poetry police on the loose? Part of me agrees with you but not necessarily on this site...I haven't been here long enough. I was very active on another poetry site that I won't speak of, for a while. On that site you get points for posting poems and reviewing them. The more points one earned, the higher one's rank...until you got to the status of..."legendary poet"...The whole point system bred lazy poems and mass reviews. I got sick of it.
