Contest Description
let’s be inspired again by an invented form called Verso-Rhyme by L. Ensley Hutton...
the Verso-Rhyme is:
- a poem in 8 lines with a syllabic count of 6-4-6-4-6-4-6-4…
-it has a rhyme scheme , xaxbxaxb. ( x being unrhymed)…
- this is written without punctuation except an exclamation in the end...
your creative task is to pen a NEW, ORIGINAL poem choosing one of these prompts: 1) DEWFRESH MORN, or 2) DARK COAL OF NIGHT...chosen prompt is the poem's title
unique imagery, poetic mood, content of flow , and adherence to the form are my requirements...
my example of verso-rhyme:
It is in late duskfall (x)
When your eyes claim ( a)
The luster of new stars (x)
Irises gold (b)
Warm as the dusk’s ember (x)
A porch aflame (a)
Dazzling our foxtrot glide (x)
Till clouds unfold! (b)
~ write sponsor's name, contest title, and date on poem's box
~ use www.howmanysyllables.com as your counter; check syl count,
