Contest Description

What to Submit?

I am thankful for the Premium Membership Gift I received this year from a PS friend-sponsor (I do not know who you are, but thanks so much)…  Responding with gratefulness, I am inviting my fellow soupers to write a CRYSTALLINE (starting June 28, 2022) that revolves around thanks, thankfulness, gratitude.”  The poem must bear the title, “THANKSGIVING CRYSTALS” expressed in a couplet (two lines only) with a total of 17 syllables (8 and 9; or 9 and 8).  Please indicate the Syllable Counter you used to check number of syllables (Poetry Soup Syllable Counter or howmanysyllables counter).

Please consider some of these facts about the Crystalline: “Unlike haiku which observes the image with objectivity and attempts to keep the ego out of the verse, the Crystalline invites the poet’s subjectivity and permits the poet’s thought and feelings to be communicated through the verse. The verse form was created by American poet Denis Garrison…. Crystalline is a complete couplet. A regular Crystalline is 8/9 or 9/8 syllables per line, written with the English grammatical rules of syntax, caps and punctuation.” God bless you.
