Contest Description

What to Submit?

The above picture serves as an example of a misremembered memory—a metaphor for truth—something that changes with each retelling, but in essence remains the same.

Craft a between !0 to 20 lines in total Specular Fugue poem. Revisit your personal memories on any topic, using semantic echoes to tease out the facts, but don’t over explain yourself, in other words: Nonlinear.*

Title: Any, but a maximum of 5 words. NB This excludes the title of the example poem.

Go fish for the details of the design requirements of the Specular Fugue poem at the example poem:

If Memory Serves me Well (poetrysoup.com)

General: In single spaced lines (one double space between the stanzas), and keep to a regular left aligned layout on the page, please.

*Nonlinear: A poem that moves predictably in its progression or even where sections are over elaborated upon rather than allowing readers to engage intuitively with the poem's essence is considered to be too linear.

Judging

Human and AI collaborations† are welcome. I prefer human written poetry—I am reluctant to read AI-generated poetry as it is a mind fug. I don’t rely on AI checkers, but use my noggin—far more accurate.

The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the results posted.
