Contest Description
What to Submit?
There is something quite fascinating about worthless things that become precious because they didn't get thrown away. A bus ticket to meet a first boyfriend, the newspaper that lined a cupboard, an old coke can. Ephemera - 'lasting only a day'. The ability to hold in your hands a lost moment and reclaim it.
Poetry captures and saves moments in much the same way, saving thoughts and minds from disappearing into the ether.
This contest is to capture the fleeting - something seemingly meaningless in the moment but treasured now.
Any form, limited to 20 lines. If you happen to have written this poem pretemptively then feel free to enter it, but I'm really looking for a new poem. Essentially it must meet the brief and be clearly about something almost inexplicably special because the time is now passed. No religious or political poetry please.
Title your poem however you wish but please place the word 'Ephemera' after it.
Any form is acceptable.
