Contest Description
What to Submit?
1 original, poem on the theme of ...."Islands in the Stream" --as an example, the lyrics to the song would not make it to round two -- Hemingway's book was written posthumously and closer inspirationally to what I'm looking for---the "Islands" being waypoints in life - "Life" being the stream - be careful how you refer to each as I'm looking for thoughtful ambiguity yet not totally abstract (ALWAYS)! Jazz composition comes the closest to good poetry as long as the improvisation doesn't totally lose touch with the melody. It's okay to be close to the melody, but make your phrasing memorable and thoughtful.
Any form is acceptable.
