Slam Contest Closed and Disappointing

UPDATE: The names of the winners have been sent to TPS. They say it can take up to 24hrs to apply PMs to accts. Congrats to the winners.

25 out of 35 entries disqualified from the start simply for not following the title rule.

Three more were removed for missing words, name left on poem, or being off topic.

In the end sadly only seven met all qualifications.

When judging is complete this evening there will be five placements and two honorable mentions.

Because this seemed to be so difficult for so many the five that place will all be given premium memberships rather than the initial first through third placements.

You are an angel Flo, I speak from the heart as I was blessed by you and several other such wonderful people on soup. I hope the 7 poets use their gift to the best of their abilities. I doubt I would not have blossomed with my 'pooetry' so much without this 'gift of words' and all I wanted to do was make those generous poetry soup angels (there are several I know of) proud:-) Sorry the contest was so difficult to judge and many congrats to the winners hugs jan xx

Lolol I still prefer Queen of Humor but I guess that in itself removes some of the humor lol.

I agree you don't need a PM to flourish with your writing but in my case I was a total novice to poetry (in fact I hated poetry at school) so spurred me on to try and learn as much as I could and make my 'mystery benefactor' proud and now I wear my 'rhinestone crown' as Queen of poop and I will never relinquish my throne lol:-) hugs jan xx

I wouldn't mind if it had been difficult Jan. I was disappointed because I only had seven to judge. I hope your hand is feeling better! And a person does not need a membership here to flourish with their words, you definitely would not have needed one Jan :)

Congrats to all the winners who s entry aren t disqualified, lol 28 are disqualified, I have one question that is my poem disqualified because in title instead of writing slam time, I have written slam poem, my title was something like this, "hey you think that you can rhyme, a slam poem" or was there any other reason coz as far as I remember, when i post it, somebody chose it as a member favorite, so I thought that you like it and well that I ll won,

Hello Faraz, If that was the title then yes that would be why you were disqualified. One of the rules said that the title needed to have "Slam Time" in it.

Hi Rebecca. Yours would not have been disqualified but I don't have it as an entry. When you have time click on your name at the top of your screen, it'll be toward the top right if you're looking at a desktop. That brings it to your "member area," which you may already know, but go to the "manage contest entries" link and check to see if it was actually entered into this contest and let me know please. I've gone through my screenshots and I don't have yours.

That was so nice of you to do this for these new poets. Do not feel bad many new poets take a while to develop their skill at writing and reading all the rules of contests. I get lots in my contests that I have to disqualify.

Hi Maureen. I was actually here years before I could afford a membership. Some members here shamefully hold it against others for not having a PM. So now, when I can, I just like to be able to give others what I couldn't get when I started here.
