"It's okay Dad, I can do it myself." "I know you can. I am not here because I think you need me here - I am here because I want to watch you." "But Dad you are embarrassing me." "It's okay, just tell your friends I am a little touched in the head." "Believe me Dad, they already know." "Have a good first day son." "Thanks. Love you Dad. Now get out of here, please!"

I have posted a picture of my daughters in my photos if you would like to see them. I tried putting it on the blog, but could not figure out how. Emily is on the left and is 13, and Shelby is on the right and is 14. :-)

Sorry for the typos on my last comment. Typing on my phone is hard enough without having to worry about typos. It's a pain because sometimes it fills in the word it thinks you are trying to type and it guesses wrong. I need to reread stuff before I post. Oh well. I meant, thank you for your, and it should say fill twice instead of feel.

Thank you guys so much for you wonderful and sweet comments. And, thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Being a parent is the ultimate oxymoron. The same things that feel your heart with joy, can also feel you with sorrow. A double edged knife that I wouldn't trade for the world.

I kinda remember my kids' first day and I remember MINE even better! Love how you did your bio with all the words. Love MEAT eater, music lover, spectator, sun lover, odd ball and introvert in there, among others. Those are me too. LUv, Andrea

Kristie how true are your words. Our sons are 35 and 32 yet it seems like yesterday I was taking them to school with a smile yet all the while crying inside. Time slips away so fast and before you know they are grown and gone. Just wait tell they leave home and then nothing is the same. God Bless Phyl

My kids are 13 and 14. The 13 year old is starting 8th grade, but at a different school than last year, and my 14 year old is starting high school. This is my answer to all those that ask me, "aren't they too old to be taken to the first day of school?"

Kristie I have four sons and understand and went through it all.. letting go of their hands.. sometimes more than one pair as they are close in age..is heart wrenching for a Mom and even Dads and soon they grow up and we have our memories... they also turn our to be super adults when they have this kind of caring luv... the first day at school..luv..

I agree with Barbara....our kids always seem like little ones in our hearts...regardless how old they get. One of my early poems (College Bound) was all about sending my son off to college...those emotions were just the same as dropping them off in kindergarten....it's a "Mom" thing, to shed those tears! LOL !

This brings to mind the day we dropped my younger son off at college..strange city, no friends, "dorm life"..I cried until we crossed the state line..I think it was as hard as the first day of 1st grade..love your blog. BG
