Well guys and gals, I've finally gotten around to posting my first contest. It is on the theme of, In the Woods. You can see details of what I'm looking for at my blog. I'm sure a lot of you don't enjoy roaming around the back-woods as much as I do, so I'm hoping this contest won't be a bust. I'll try to get a picture of the stick up on my blog before long so you can see what you'll be competing for. Okay ... have fun. Soupmail me with questions ... or ask em' here.

One of my favorite places to go, ..... we have spent much of this summer in the woods! I like this theme!! Good luck with your first contest, Caleb !

My Dad grew a beard when everyone kept telling my Mom she could bring the kids in (they thought Papa was one of us). He always looked so young. People kept carding him and not Mom... They're the same age... The beard did the trick... At 82 he doesn't need it any more, but it's a part of him now... LOL.

I think I sorta look young for my age, too. Course, my wife looks even younger. Nobody believes we've been married for 12 years.

Haha...oh, it's not the least bit manicured, I can assure you....letting it do what it wants to...WILD. And I think it's starting to grow on the wife...my beard...not her own....;) The only time she doesn't like it is when.....well.....nevermind.

LOSE IT! ;) Only a grizzled George Clooney look will do...Full grown...hmmmm...Well, if wifie likes it....then it stays! :)

Haha...yep I'm alive....barely. You know, I don't know much about shipping overseas, but I will look into it....a little more expensive, but I don't see why I couldn't send it to Lebanon...;) And hey, thanks for the compliment...she IS a pretty little thing, ain't she? That pic is about a year old....I have a beard now...haha

Hi Caleb, can the poem be about rural life in general, or do you want pieces specifically about the woods as a place? BTW, check out "Summer of 63" if you can -- you don't look old enough to remember it, and I barely do, but I was alive and remember the "shoo--be-doo-be-doo-wop" part. LOL

To give an idea of something that would be suitable or 'woodsy' enough, you could have a look at, "In Long Quiet", "Wesson's Bend", "The Hunter", or "Scarin' Hippies"...though very different from each other, any would be fine for this contest.

Of course, any poems entered that don't elude at all to the woods, will not be considered for the win.

Hi Don, the entire poem doesn't need to be set ONLY in the woods, but I would like it to be basically on that topic. A poem about rural life would probably be fine, since the woods are usually a big part of rural life.
