My Biography is Coming Soon... When I was 13 years old I began my conquest Of poetry. I put my hobby on hiatus after Determining that my efforts were fruitless. After ten years I returned to writing. This Episode i was much improved. I wasn't Able to keep track of any of my early work Due to a number of relocations. Now I am an Active member of poetrysoup where I have Published about 400+ poems including: HAPPINESS OF LIFE ON THE PATH OF PASSION TWILIGHT LIFE SHOOTING STAR DREAMER WHEN DREAMERS DREAM OF TRIUMPHS That's a micro collection.

As I WRITE this, I'm thinking of the snow that has not yet fallen it is everyone's nearly everyone's anticipation and anxiety. I muse about my own POEMS I absolutely hate and ones I adore. On second thought hate is to strong an emotion. Some of my material I dislike others I adore for instance, INDIGO GARDEN INDIGO ROSE and AT THIS LONELY HOUR written today. Of course TONGUE KISS is also one I adore. These I LOVE the most. My BABIES. The ones I don't really CARE for is NOTES ON DEATH and Of POVERTY. YES , I crit my own. A WORD A SENTENCE wasn't one of my best. I'M forgetting some honorable mentions such as INSATIABLE HEARTS, NEW YORK CITY, LOVERS FAIRYTALE. The point is, I've written some bad poems, I want if possible, to become famous for those as well. NOTES ON DEATH is not what comes to mind. What say you??

Another one of my absolute FAVORITES is SOLDIER. I could sit here for another mentioning my own POEMS. I won't ALLOW my that undertaking, besides I do admire other poems and POETS.

I've read some of your poems, Valerie. You write great prose and your free verse comes from the heart. Don't be so hard on yourself...experiment, try different forms, and above all, have fun! :)

I don't hate any of the poem's I've written - having only been writing just a year now I can look subjectively at my early writes and realism that maybe they could have been improved - but I leave them as they are - it is a steep learning curve and i for one am having the journey of my life - enjoy your writing Valerie and please don't be too harsh on yourself:-) Hugs \jan xxx

I'll check out some of your above mentioned poems when I have time...in the meantime, I think you're being too hard on yourself...have fun, enjoy the process. We are always our own worst critic. For myself, some of my own poems I like more than others, but even the ones I wrote that aren't great, I think of as a learning experience. Everyone has their own idea on the subject of good poetry. Some only like rhyme or think if a poem isn't written in meter, it isn't poetry. Some only like free verse. It's all subjective. You can always revise a poem you don't like. One day, I'm going to go through my own poems to remove some and revise some.

I usually don't keep the ones that I hate. What I do is keep working on it until I flesh it into something that I do love. One of my poems actually started out one way and now only maybe one of the sentences is even the same anymore. lol I kept the original in a file, but I call it more of a "draft" than a poem. :)

Hi Valerie, interesting blog. You got me with the anticipation and anxiety of yet not fallen snow. I'm a little tickled and puzzle on how one can love and hate their poems. I can't relate. I love everything I write, especially when it's not good. It only proves I ain't got the time to hate my poems. A very cool blog. I guess I'd rather not write something I'd hate. I like writing poems that make me giggle. LOL :) I'm gonna go read one of the poems you mentioned above. Hugs ~SKAT~
