Modelling for Art

I have recently been rejected a place on an Art course at Dundee university, however, I can apply for next year in mid-September to ensure I get a place on the course. Due to having a year out full of complete leisure time and no work (sadly failed on that front also - 30 applications, no replies!) I am deciding to do something radical and slightly funny - I am going to be a Still Life model for an Art class! It pays a fair rate per hour and it is something I can include in my CV if I apply for an artistic career. I am just hoping that the room is warm and a chair is some time supplied because holding a pose in the nude is strenuous. My family, if they knew, would laugh their heads off but I am doing it regardless.

Has anyone else done something radical in their life?

I find that in my older age I like getting radical. Never really did anything when I was young so now I feel like I've been missing out. I don't get too radical, just enough to make a laugh.

Here's what I did: I stopped listeing to what everyone told me that I should do, and I did what I wanted to do, and I did it myself. And I got the man I wanted. By myself. That continues to be radical in this day and age: being independent even within a long relationship, and taking responsibility for yourself, and your life. My second radical act is to teach these skills to my children.

Do they have an opening for Rubenesque models?? heehee. Something radical, huh? I will try to think on that one. If I think of something radical I ever did,I'll come back here and tell you!!

Leighann, everyone is having a hard time finding work. The modeling gig will be fun for you. We had a model in our college art class and he was treated with the greatest respect. When he needed breaks from holding a pose, he got them. A friend of mine did something VERY radical for an art class. She spray-painted her entire body silver and sat (gently) on a silver chair with nails pointing up. Attached to her butt were some packets of stage blood. The blood poured out as she sat. This was some type of art-in-motion project. The art teacher loved it, but the campus police wanted to arrest her. I don't recall if she ever told her husband. LOL Have a great time modeling! great Leighann and good luck with this new adventure luv.. my only radical ..I think my whole life is..haha.. was doing so many speaking engagements which turned into talent shows for Seniors and children in hospitals.. my hubby and I still visit them weekly... they are the best audiences and they luv to listen to the poetry .. started out as a fun thing but now a true enjoyment luv..
